If I can't make the race can I get a refund on my Pre-Entry?
NO Refunds
Do I need a spark arrestor?
YES, Spark Arrestors will be checked before and after the event. You must pass technical inspection before you will be allowed to stage your motorcycle on the starting line.
Do I need to have numbers on all three places on my bike?
YES, You must run your assigned on all three plates and have the correct color combination of numbers and backgrounds. PRO = Blue Backgrounds/White Numbers, Expert=White Backgrounds/Black Numbers, Amateur=Yellow Backgrounds/Black Numbers and Novice (Women and Over 60) Black Backgrounds/White Numbers.
Will there be numbers available at the race?
YES, if you sign up the day of the event, a vendor will have regular numbers and backgrounds available.
Do I need to check in when I get to the event?
YES, you must register at sign-up to get all your event materials.
Can people sign up the day of the event?
YES, you can sign up the night before or the morning of your event. You will start behind all pre-entered riders. Only cash and good checks will be accepted at the race. Bad checks = DQ.

Is there camping?
YES, there is limited camping. First come, first serve. Only camp in designated areas otherwise you may be on private property. Camping areas will be marked. NO CAMPFIRES!!!!
What is the start like?
The start is on the main street (paved) of town for the big bike races. 10 riders per row will leave the start line every fifteen seconds by flag raised starting. Live engine start. The event is timed so your start time will be reflected on your finish time. 4 hours on Saturday and 3 hours on Sunday. There are auctions for up-front start positions.
Can I finish before the time expires?
YES, you can finish at anytime and you will be scored based on your laps then time after all full time finishers. This way you can still get a finishers pin and be scored without having to wait for the official checkered flag.
What is the course like?
This year's course is 25-30 miles and very fun. Lots of two-track mining roads, single track and rocky, hard pack. Course elevation 5000-7000 feet. Moderate to high speed. We have radio communications & medical crews all over the course. Course is 10 feet wide by order of BLM. Any short coursing will = DQ.
Is there alternate gas?
NO, if you motorcycle can not go thirty miles, then you must carry gas.
Can I pit each lap?
YES, you will ride through the pits each lap. 5 mph speed limit in the pits at all times! Obey the speed limit even if you are not pitting or you will be penalized! Dead Engine Gas! No pitting on the course, only in the designated pit area!!
What are the pits like?
The pits are closed to all vehicles except race vehicles 1/2 hour before the start of the event. You must enter the pits through the designated gates. Anyone cutting or jumping the fence will result in disqualification of your rider. The pits can be very dangerous and we take all safety precautions necessary. Dead Engine Gas! Leave your toys at home. Clean your pit area!! NO Quads, PETS, Bicycles or pit bikes in the pits!!! Pets must be on a leash anywhere in town.
Is there anything to do on Saturday night?
YES, There will be many live bands in town and great restaurants to eat at. Virginia City is known for it's
fun family atmosphere. IF you are not 21 do not try to drink or gamble, you will be ticketed.
Can I ride my motorcycle around town?
NO, you may only ride your motorcycle during the event. Come prepared to race. No Jetting area. No pre-running the course. You may NOT ride in the Virginia City area two-weeks before the event!! Do not start you r bike before 8:00 am.
Can I ride my Quad or pit bike around town?
NO, you cannot ride any unlicensed vehicle in town. Leave your toys at home. NO Quads, Bicycles or pit bikes in town!!!
Is it safe to leave my bike in the back of my truck or trailer?
We recommend that you lock up all your belongings including your motorcycle. While Virginia City is a very nice small town, with all the racers in town it is better safe than sorry!

Is there gas available in town?
YES, The Virginia City Station sells all types of fuel including diesel. Please visit and support our local sponsors and businesses. They are the reason the event happens!
